[ It is a worthy goal. It's also the goal that Edwin is most likely to cooperate with. Edwin isn't the only one who's feeling more predatory than usual; why negotiate when Linhardt can receive what he wants without a concession? Manipulation bears tastier fruit.]

Any help would be appreciated - if nothing else, the information collected should be stored in as many places as possible. Including the minds of many people. It mitigates the odds of it being lost.

Can you hear out of the cat ears? Are they fully functioning ears or just erotic (I assume) appendages?

Are you fixated on all people or only certain people? Interesting ones? What is your normal way of approaching interacting with others? I avoid it, personally, but I am feeling similar instincts at the moment. The urge to interact with others is...odd.

The fixations aren't really connected to any one thing, though I suppose it tends to be someone I find intriuging. But it's only on one person at a time.
I am not usually inclined to seek people out.

Interesting. Given the goals of the house and the erotic nature of the 'game', I would have assumed that any changes or magic used on us would have an aim of 'persuading' us to engage in erotic activities. Can you feel when they're touched at all? If they're only able to make superficial physical changes, that would be somewhat comforting to know. What about your claws? If you break one, does it hurt like a fingernail breaking would?

When you follow them, do you want to be seen or do you prefer to be hidden? Has anyone 'caught' you? If so, what are your reactions to being caught following someone?

So far, yes. I am less inclined to deal with stupidity and to protect people from themselves. I would prefer the physical changes - those would at least be intriguing. I am not fond of how I am thinking right now.

I wouldn't know about breaking my nails, although I can only imagine that it would still hurt.

There hasn't been much of a noticeable inclination one way or the other, between remaining hidden or being observed. Though I have observed that when I've been noticed, it has felt a little bit thrilling. Especially if the person then tries to shake off my attention.

You're less inclined to those things now? Or normally?

So you feel compelled to be a nuisance? I won't tell you it's not an amusing way to spend time.

Ordinarily, I do at least try to understand that most people do not like thinking and keep them from coming to harm. Now, I find my thoughts straying more towards them being responsible for themselves.

I'm generally of the opinion that people should be able to sort themselves out, to be honest. At least when it comes to them making conscious choices.

I think they should be able to, but most people seem to have the capacity for 'thinking of the future' and using logic that I had at the age of seven. I would heal the leg of a small child who fell out of a tree, even if they opted to climb, because they are stupid and do not understand consequences. Most adults are the same, they just get cross if you tell them this.

I'm just surprised that whatever is affecting you is making you more calculating, not less. Considering that we're all meant to be animals, or whatever it is that's going on.

That is a very good point. Some animals are calculating - for example, a cat frequently considers its actions before taking them. Perhaps we are to be emulating different animals? I do think it's an unwise decision on the part of the house, however: I would not encourage my kidnapping victims to think.

It is vexing to be in this situation. I spend enough time ignoring those thoughts. Now they are more akin to someone banging on my door at 11 AM demanding I wake up - much harder to ignore.

That's true, I suppose. But yes, I don't quite understand why, considering the main theme of this whole charade, that would be the quality that was encouraged. Unless of course there are unstated goals.

Yes. That is one thing that bothers me about all of this: There is clearly a difference between what the House says and what it means.

It does seem unwise. The question is is it unwise? Perhaps we are truly not a threat to the House.

I have not been able to muster my ordinary levels of self-control. My instincts are the hardest to ignore around other people - by myself they are tolerable if inclined to making me ruminate.

I can't imagine they do think we're threats.
Especially considering that they seem to treat some of us better than others with no discernible rhyme or reason.

[Edwin, for example, has a relatively comfortable arrangement and god knows he's no threat. Meanwhile, he knows a very accomplished practitioner who is a much lower rank than he is. It doesn't seem wise to him, unless the House isn't worried about reprisals.

His next instinct towards questioning is...not strictly polite, but he doesn't think Linhardt will hold that against him.]

What does a lack of control in this instance entail? Is it just inaction, or something else?

That could be misdirection or some attempt at creating hostilities within their kidnapping victims. Or there may be hidden reasons: I wonder if the upper ranks have anything in common.

I am more inclined to punish people or last out at them for their stupidity. The concerning part is that this influence can override my personal morals and character, at least in certain circumstances. Setting aside my own feelings about that -

The implications are disturbing: It means I do not know if we can trust people to act predictably.
